The IBP Union's Safe Space Policy

At IBP Union, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for all members of our community. Our mission is to ensure that people feel safe, valued, and empowered to participate in our activities, both academic and social. This policy outlines our commitment to developing and maintaining a safe space for everyone involved in the IBP Union.

Purpose And Scope

The IBP Union Safe Space Policy aims to establish guidelines that promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere across all our events and interactions. This policy applies to all IBP Union members, including all IBP students across bachelor’s and master’s programs, and IBP Union volunteers. It is applicable whenever the Union is involved, covering all IBP Union events and activities.

Core Principles

Respect and Inclusivity: Every member is expected to treat others with respect and embrace the diversity of our community. This includes respecting different opinions, backgrounds, and identities.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment and Discrimination: We tolerate no form of harassment, discrimination, bullying, hate speech or violence based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or any other characteristic in IBP Union.

Support and Confidentiality: We strive to provide support for anyone who feels unsafe or needs assistance. Through our reporting mechanisms, we are committed to the confidential and thorough handling of every incident. We reserve the right to refuse participation in all IBP union events and activities to anyone whom we find in violation of our policy.

Implementation And Enforcement

We have established clear reporting mechanisms for any violations of this policy. Members can report incidents confidentially through the following channels:

President: [email protected]

Vice President: [email protected]

With incidents on CBS ground, you can also contact

CBS DEI Office: [email protected]

Violations of this policy will be handled by the President and Vice-President with the consent of the reporting party. Depending on the severity of the violation, consequences may range from warnings to suspension or expulsion from the organization or its events.

Procedure

  1. The report is received.
  2. Consent is given to the confidential handling party/parties.
  3. Understand and address the situation, to the best of our ability, where the focus remains on the experienced situation rather than the intentions behind it.
  4. Under certain circumstances, we may reach out to informed decision-makers at CBS for guidance, utilizing the DEI office and existing support system.
Due to the current limitations of reporting systems at CBS, our IBP Union safe space procedural process is ongoing and open to feedback. We aim to lead in fostering diversity and inclusion at CBS and to grow with and support the students. As students ourselves, we are limited by existing CBS resources, but with your support, feedback, and involvement we will do our best, starting this journey towards a more inclusive and safer environment.

Review And Feedback

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. We actively seek feedback from our members to make necessary adjustments and improvements. Any changes to the policy will be communicated to all members in a timely manner.
